Introduction
You are advised to lead in by talking about farming. Then help students with their reading of CHEMICAL OR ORGANIC FARMING. Translation of the text into Chinese is proposed.
Objectives
To help students make use of what they learned in this unit in communication
To help students use the language by reading, listening, speaking and writing
Procedures
Warming up by talking about farming.
Do you know what fertilizer is? How many kinds of fertilizers do farmers use?
(There are two kinds. They are chemical fertilizers and natural ones.)
2. Reading and underlining
Now let’s go on with CHEMICAL OR ORGANIC FARMING. Please turn to Page 14. Read the passage quickly and underline all the useful expressions and collocations in it. Copy them to your notebook after class as homework.

(Farming by using chemicals.)
3). What is the goal of using organic farming methods?
(To grow good food and avoid damaging the environment or people’s health.)

a. Damage the land by killing the helpful bacteria and pests as well as the harmful ones.
