By com ining such GTEs with MachZehnder interferometer (MZI) , we o tain a new interleaver. The output expression is derived and numerical simulation is performed. The simulation indicates that it has good pass and flatness (flattop), large isolation, wide pass andand stop and andwidths. By optimizing the spectrum it shows that when thesum of cavities of GTEs is fixed, the larger the pass and andwidth gets, the smaller the isolation will e, i. e. , isolation and andwidth are incompati le. However, this contradiction can e overcome y increasing the sum of cavities, i. e. , interleaver!s spectral performance can e enhanced y increasing cavities.
