Abstract: Based on 88 count ries panel dat a fr om 1990 t o 2005 , w e analyze the correlat ions
bet w een t he financial st ru ct ure ( bank and st ock market ) and econom ic g row t h in al l t he 88
countr ies, in dev elo ped countr ies, and developing count ries resp ect ively . By u sing t he panel unit
root t est and p anel cointeg rat ion , t he emp ir ical research show s t h at t he posit ive correlat ions
bet w een t he financial st ruct ure and eco nom ic g row t h in dev elo ped count ries are sig nif icant, but
the coeff icient s are sm all. T he po sit ive co rrelation s bet w een t he f inancial stru cture and econom ic
grow t h in develop ing countr ies are sig nif icant , and t he b ank s play a m ore import ant role in
economic development t h an t he st ock m arket does in develop ing countr ies. T his papers
