[Ab strac t] Borneol, a tradit ional crude drug, is commonly used in comb inat ion w ith other Ch inese herbal
m edicines, and itsm ajor component is D2borneol. Them a in m ethods to currently determ ine the conten t of
borneol were reviewed, including gas chrom atography, derivatization h igh p erform ance liquid chrom ato2
graphy, thin layer chrom atography, infrared spectroscopy, u ltraviolet2visible sp ectrophotom etry and
gravmi etry, so as to provide m ethodologica l reference for the qua lity control of borneol in its formulation s
under different environm ents and cond ition s.
