Research of laser welding of automobile galvanized steel with activating fluxes

( Department of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Xiamen University of Technology, Xiamen 361024)Abstract: To increase the weld melt zone and enhance the mechanical properties of weld joints, and to improve the low power laser welding efficiency and reduce cost, the possibility of the weld width improvement on the welding joint by low-power pulsed laser with activating flux was studied. Based on the research of laser welding of galvanized steel with the flux, the effect of the activating flux on the weldability of specimens, as well as the mechanism of weld-width improvement, was studied, and the relevant data was received. The results shown that the weld-width was increased significantly with the activating flux, as the result of the absorption of the YAG laser can be improved effectively by surfactant coating, the heat input was increased and the amount of the base metal melted enlarged. In addition, under the action of activating flux, the joint microstructure is still mainly equiaxed and columnar grain, but the temperature gradient in the melt zone was increased which resulting in grain refine improvement, the tensile strength and hardness of the joints are better than specimens uncoated activating flux due to the dense microstructure, and thus effectively improve the low-power pulsed laser deep penetration welding performance.

1引言
活性焊接概念,最早由乌克兰的巴顿焊接研究所提出[1]。该技术是焊前在试样待焊区域均匀涂覆一层具有特殊化学成分的活性焊剂,焊接时采用一定的焊接规范即可达到减少焊接缺陷、增加热源熔透能力从而使焊接熔深得到大幅度的提高。它是一种简便、节能、高效的焊接方法,最早应用于TIG焊中。采用这种方法进行焊接后,针对3-12 mm板厚的试样无需开坡口,即可实现一次性焊接成型[2]。
活性激光焊接技术是近几年基于活性焊接法在国际上迅速发展的焊接前沿新技术。旨在将活性焊与激光焊结合起来实现提高激光吸收率、增大焊接熔透性、改善焊接质量,提高焊接效率降低生产成本的目的,将是今后激光焊接技术重要的发展和研究方向之一。国内外关于活性激光焊接技术机理与核心工艺研究的报道不多,研究数据很有限,试验采用HAN’S LASER W400B系列的激光焊接加工系统。该系统由激光电源、CCD监视系统、光系统、PC数控系统、红光定位系统组
