Learners learn new words and common word combinations. Key Issues: useful expressions, sentence structure, discourse analysis, basic writing skills, reading skills, Main ideas of the text. Potential Problems and Difficulties: skim and scan, evidence- supported writing skills. Teaching Aids: Tape recorder, pictures, Mp4, computer, ect. Teaching procedures: Part I (Section A) 1. Greetings and brief self-introduction, then give a general introduction of the course and teaching plan. 2. Lead in activity After short introduction of the topic, I will ask students to discuss these questions on page 3, “What’s your purpose of going to college?” “What does going to college mean to you?” I will ask students to discuss in pairs, and then ask several pairs to show their ideas to the whole class. 3.
