2001 會計理論與實務研討會 The Continuous Auditing Methodology for Web-Release – An ECAM Prototype Using * Object-Oriented Technology ** Chi-Chun Chou ABSTRACT In the past a few years, the increasing provision of Internet accounting information has been improving the quality of accounting information in terms of “timeliness”. However, the information asymmetry problem still exists since those “web-releases” usually remain unaudited. A revised continuous auditing approach proposed by this paper is suggested to provide timely assurance so that the pitfalls of using unaudited web information will be mitigated. Based on the motivation to examine the economic, technical and operational feasibility of the continuous auditing approach, attempts are made to explore the following three major issues. First, the benefits brought by continuous auditing are carefully identified in our transaction-based auditing model to explain why the new approach will be prevailing in the web-release auditing scenario . Second, the technical framework capturing the basic concepts of continuous auditing is elaborately constructed using a disciplined methodology - the object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) technology.
