However, if PSCO has ‘clear grounds’ that vessel is not up to standard, a ‘more detailed’ inspection takes place. This chart only shows trends of detentions for the USCG, Tokyo and Paris MOU. Since each regime uses different targeting methods and calculations to determine their respective detention rates they cannot be compared to each other. This chart is only show to indicate worldwide trends. In general, detentions have been steadily decreasing for all PSC regimes. This could be due to the impact of the worldwide PSC program.
