Pickling Galvanizing of Thin Hot Strip A Comparison of Two Processes 论文.pdf

Pickling Galvanizing of Thin Hot Strip A Comparison of Two Processes ·1 · Pickling Galvanizing of Thin Hot Strip A Comparison of Two Processes W. Karner*, E.Blake, A.Stingl, J. Hykel (Andritz Metals, 1120 Vienna, Austria) Abstract By the introduction of processes for the direct production of thin hot strip material like CSP and ESP the need arises to find economical solutions for the pickling and subsequent galvanizing of these products. It is attractive to couple the pickling and the galvanizing process to be performed in one line the so called PGL, a combination of pickling with hot dip galvanizing. For some products it may also be interesting to combine pickling with electrolytic galvanizing (PEGL). In this paper the two processes are compared and their respective merits for different products are evaluated.properties remained fairly high. Key words hot strip, pickling, PGL, PEGL Introduction Thin hot strip production: Production of thin hot strip with gauges between 0.8mm and 2.0 mm was made possible with the advent of Compact Strip Production ( CSP c by SMS Siemag) and Endless Strip Production (ESP c by VAI, Arvedi). These technologies are described in many articles elsewhere (1,2,3,4). Also most steel grades, including Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) can be produced by these methods. Up to now mostly cold strips were galvanized although there have been some lines for galvanizing of hot strip in operation since long time (5,6,). For this application the strip must be annealed in order to recrystallize the material before the coating can be applied. The state of the art process is
