Theresults from vibrating sample magne tometer(VSM) measurement revealedthat NdTbCothin films had perpendicular magneticanisotropy. Theperpendicular coercivity and remanencesquareratio reached 308.8kA/m and 0.732 respectively, and theinplanar coercivity and remanencesquareratiowereonly 22.3 kA/m and 0.173 respectively. With theaddition of Nd, thecoercivitydecreasedgradually, whilekerr rotation angleandreflectivity increased step by step. When x increased from 0 to 0.338, kerr rotation angle and reflectivity of (Ndx Tb1- x ) 31Co69 thin filmsincreasedfrom 0.2720, 0.2616to0.3258, 0.3320 respectively. When x increased from 0.210 to 0.321, kerr rotation angle and reflectivity of (Ndx Dy1- x )33 Co67 thin films increased from 0.2761, 0.3054 to 0.3231,0.3974 respectively.
