Abstract: Some typ icalRC frames damaged during theW enchuan earthquake w ere introduced, w ith emphasis on
the damage to RC beam s, columns, beam-column joints and stair w ells. It is concluded that except for flexural,
shear, flexural- shear damage to RC beams, columns and beam-column joints, longitud inal steel bond dam age,
construction joint damage and stairw ell damage are also found in m any RC frames. Some new RC fram es, even un-
fin ished, w ere severely damaged, and much of them appeared / strong beam and w eak column0, / strong m ember
and w eak joint0 failure
