Physical contact梩ouching is an important way in nonverbal communication between different cultures.闻 Touching includes bow, kiss, handshake, embrace and so on. Physical touch varies from culture to culture. People from low-context cultures tend to feel crowded by people from high-context cultures, and the people from high-context cultures feel left out and rejected by people from low-context cultures. The attitude toward space reflects the “right” distance and help us to find out what acceptable touch are. We need to keep things in perspective and not get offended each time we deal with someone who has a different relationship to space. So we know that touching is natural to some cultures. If we be careful on touching, we will be the winner in intercultural communication.
