Humor between Western countries and China Abstract: As we all know that culture consists of many aspects including history, geographic politics, music, language and so on. And different countries may have different cultures Now the globalization makes our world smaller and nearer. We may deal with different people from different cultures so that have a knowledge of other culture is good for harmonious interaction. And humor is a important aspect of culture, if you do not understand humor of other culture, you will maybe in trouble or feel embarrassed. Therefore, this article is aiming to studying humor in different culture for your reference. Key words: humor, west and China, culture We are living in a rich and colorful world. In the process of human society development, people from different cultures have formed their own national character and national identity, which contributes to this diversified world. So if we want to communicate with people from other countries we should know its culture. Generally, some people believe that British people are reserved; French nationals are romantic; Chinese people are reticent; and Americans are blunt and humorous So I take American for example to illustrate differences of humor between China. 1. The origin of humor Humor is the tendency of special perceptional experiences to produce laughter and amusement. The term derives from the humoral medicine of the ancient Greeks, which taught that the balance of fluids in the human body, known as humors (Latin: humor, body fluid), control human health and emotion. 2. The causes of humor Almost every people may experience humor no matter how old is he or what culture they come from. The majority of people are able to be affected by humor, such as to be amused, to laugh or smile at something funny, and thus they are considered to have a sense of humor. Suppose a man who is lacking a sense of humor would likely find the behavior caused by humor to be unexplainable, unusual, or even u
