Lead-in Students work in group to discuss two pre-reading questions as follows: Can you imagine how the people in the future will be taught? What will future schools be like in your opinion? II. Intensive reading 1. Teaching new words and expressions 2. While-reading activities: text comprehension Students will read through the text for the answer to the exercises on Page 26 3. While-reading activities: text structure analysis Students work in group to divide the whole passage into several major parts and summarize the main idea of each part. The text should be divided into three major parts: Part I: Para. 1 Main idea: It serves as the background of the story Part II: Pare 2-30 Main idea: It tells us a conversation between the two leading characters, Margie and Tommy, running through most of it. Part III: Para. 31-35 Main idea: It tells us something about the schoolroom, the mechanical teacher, and Margie’s thoughts. It also reveals indirectly how children in the distant future dislike school with a mechanical teacher only and how they wish to have human teachers teaching them. 4. while-reading activities: study of language points head: vt.
