Introduction
The percentage of the Jewish writers is very large in contemporary times. Jewish culture is also mostly regarded as sub-culture or the stream of culture. The works concerning Jews has double meaning including ancient European culture and American culture, which adds the complexity of conclusions and reductions. The thoughts of religions and pogroms of siblings make Jewish writers have the sense of guilty, the fate of history also gets them own the sense of wandering and segregation of American society also lets them find no place to live.1 The sense of wandering makes them seek the sense of belonging, which shows in their works. Although Jewish-American literature is sub-culture or the stream of culture, the Jewish writers have made great contribution to American literature by their own power.2 In the nineteen sixties to seventies, plenty of excellent Jewish writers crowded in the stage of American literature such as Isaac Bashevis Singer, Bernard Malamud, Philip Roth and Neil Simon.
Isaac Bashevis Singer was a leading figure in the Yiddish literary movement and won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1978. He won two U.S. National Book Awards, one in Children’s Literature for his memoir A Day of Pleasure: Stories of a Boy Growing up in Warsaw and one in Fiction for his collection A Crown of Feathers and Other Stories. Along with Saul Bellow and Philip Roth, Bernard Malamud was one of the great American Jewish authors of the 20th century. His baseball novel, The Natural, was adapted into a 1984 film starring Robert Redford. His 1966 novel The Fixer, about anti-Semitism in Tsarist Russia, won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. As for Philip Roth, he has been one of the most honored authors of his generation: his books have twice been awarded the National Book Award, twice the National Book Critics Circle Award, and three times the PEN/Faulkner Award. He received a Pulitzer Prize for his 1997 novel, American Pastoral, which featured his
