National Taiwan Normal University. Abstract This study provides introspection and reflection on teachers role and teacher- student relationships of modern days through the philosophy of Lao-Tzu. Teacher- student relationships have always played a critical role on educational issues. There are many exegetical theories in Lao-Tzu s Morality Canon worth applying in the educational field. In this study, the main ideas of Lao-Tzus theory are explained first , followed by the discussion on its implications on teacher-student relationships from the perspectives of teachers role , teacher-student relationships , and teacher- student dialogues. The study contemplates the teacher-student relationships through Lao-Tzu s philosophy , reflects on the life of self and interactions with others , revelJs teacher-student relationships to innocence and purity, and broadens l the spirituaf space of teachers ingenuity.
