Reading Report ----After reading Pride and Prejudice Pride and prejudice, written by Jane Austin, one of the most famous novelists in Britain, is a humorous story of love and marriage. The whole story happened in the Bennet’s family. Mr. Bennet had five daughters. Respectively, Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate.? The very dream of Mr. Bennet was to get all his daughters married, and the story went on then. Why this book is named “pride and prejudice” is mainly because these two elements appear almost everywhere in the book. The heroine Elizabeth who was deeply loved by the rich and powerful person named Darcy was born in a small landlord family. Despite the status and wealth gap, Darcy wanted to marry with Elizabeth, but was refused. One possible reason might be the misunderstandings and prejudices of Elizabeth on Darcy. Because Darcy was born in a high-rank family, and the education he took from his childhood told him his blood was nobler than others, the temperament of pride could not help releasing now and again which was extremely hated by Elizabeth. Consequently, although Darcy could not restrain himself from loving Elizabeth, even he propose to her, however, his still arrogant attitude led to her rejection. From my point of view, in some respects, this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century. In that time, the class origin, the family background as well as the economic relationship caused a multitude of phenomenon full of prejudice. At the mean time, this factor played a crucial role in mate choosing. The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a l
