Charles Dickens is one of the greatest English novelist of the nineteenth century?.He makes a great contribution to the English as well as the world literature.? Dickens was born in 1812 and died in 1870. When he was ten years old, his family was imprisoned for debt. A year later, he was sent to a blacking factory working as an apprentice to support his family. This experience was full of humiliation. The horrific condition of the factory haunted him for the rest of his life. At the age of twelve, he was sent to school. Seven years later, he worked as a journalist. This experience kept him in close contact with the dark social conditions of the Industrial Revolution, and he grew disillusioned with the attempts of lawmakers to alleviate those conditions. And during this time, he began to write. Dickens was a prolific writer. He was able to keep a writing schedule that would have exhausted any other author. In his lifetime, he published more than one-hundred short stories, dozens of novels, fourteen major novels and a lot of essays, letters, travel notes, and so on. His biggest success was on his fourteen major novels. Till today, some of them are very popular.? Oliver Twist is one of Charles Dickens’ famous works. This novel is the first one in which a child is the protagonist from the beginning to the end in English literature. The publication of this novel firmly establishes the literary eminence of the young Dickens and he?“was regarded as the greatest one of the writers who depicted the children.”1 The hero of this novel is Oliver Twist, an orphan, who is born in a parish. Oliver lives in the parish for nine years, but he is unloved and unwanted. In the parish, he suffers the hugger and chilliness. After being punished for asking for more food, Oliver is taken away as an apprentice of a coffin shop, where he is also abused. Then he manages to escape to Lond
