The horrific condition of the factory haunted him for the rest of his life. At the age of twelve, he was sent to school. Seven years later, he worked as a journalist. This experience kept him in close contact with the dark social conditions of the Industrial Revolution, and he grew disillusioned with the attempts of lawmakers to alleviate those conditions. And during this time, he began to write. Dickens was a prolific writer. He was able to keep a writing schedule that would have exhausted any other author. In his lifetime, he published more than one-hundred short stories, dozens of novels, fourteen major novels and a lot of essays, letters, travel notes, and so on. His biggest success was on his fourteen major novels. Till today, some of them are very popular.?Oliver Twist is one of Charles Dickens’ famous works. This novel is the first one in which a child is the protagonist from the beginning to the end in English literature.
