母。{l；{l；。 Correlation between English Majors，CriticalThinking DiSpoSⅢ on andTheirEnglish Reading Com prehension 许金红 (江南大学外国语学院，江苏无锡 214122) Abstract：To im prove students’criticalthinking is considered as a top priority by a grow ing num berofeducators．W hilethereexistsa comparableamountofresearch exam in— ing students’criticalthinking skills，less is known aboutstudents’tendency to use theseskills．Specifically，littleisknownaboutwhatinfluence criticalthinkingdisposi— tionhason students’academ icachievem ent．English reading comprehension，w hich hasbeen an im portantcom position in students’English achievem ent，m ay be an im portantfactorindeveloping thisdisposition．Thecurrentstudyexam ined thechar— acteristics ofstudents’criticalthinking disposition and theirEnglish reading corn— prehension aswellasexploring thecorrelation between thetw o factors m entioned above．Thecurrentstudyinvolvedin125sophomoresinEnglishmajorfrom Jiangsu province．The results indicated thatstudents in currentresearch perform ed best inMaturity(M=37．46，SD=3．57)，followedbylnquisitiveness(M=36．64，SD=4．31)， Analyticity (M=34．86，SD=3．70)，Truthseeking (M=33．86，SD=4．O8)．Incontrast， theyperformedworstinCTConfidence(M=33．17，SD=4．57)，followedbySystem— aticity (M=33．49，SD=5．10)andOpen-mindedness(M=33．50，SD=3．67)．Students scored highestinAttitudeandView Category asthem eanwas0．8257，followedby ReasoningandJudgmentCategory (M=0．8128)，InductionandGeneralizationCat— egory (M=0．7612)，ThemeTopicCategory (M=0．6844)，SemanticComprehension Category (M=0．6789)，whilescoredlowestinFactandDetailCategory (M=0．5818)．
