Dangyang Agricultural Bureau ，Dangyang 444 100 ，China) Abstract The damage caused by ，occurrence and species of thrips in citrus orchards was investigated . Eleven species were found ;Scirtothrip s dorsalis Hood ，Lef royothrip s lef royi (Bagnall )，Frankliniella intonsa (Trybom)，Thrip s f lavidulus (Bagnall )，T. hawaiiensis (Morgan )，T. p almi Karny ，T. coloratus Schmutz ， Rhaebothrip s lativentris Karny ，Hap lothrip s chinensis Priesner ，H . subtilissimus (Haliday )and H . tenuip ennis Bagnall . A pilot study indicated that the number of thrips decreased significantly following the application of Imidacloprid 70 WP ，Dipterex 30 EC and Avermectin 5 WDG . However ，damage to fruit was only reduced when these pesticides were applied before ，or during ，the flowering of citrus trees. Key words thrips ，species ，occurrence ，controlling efficiency ，
