Apr．2010，Volume7，No．4(SerialNo．65) JournalofUS．ChinaMedicalScience ISSN 1548—6648，USA 瓣L嚣Hl辩蒜 DiscussionaboutthePrognosesofW ilson。sDisease withSevereCortexStructureImpairmentm A Case ReportofWilson’sDisease(WD)Treatedbythe TraditionalChineseMedicineandWesternMedicine SonglinChen，YingyinLiang，XiangxueZhouandXunhuaLi DepartmentofNeurology,TheFirstAffiliatedHospitalofZhongshanUniversity,Guangzhou，China Abstract：Introduction：Aswcknow，W ilson’sdisease(WD)patientwithseverestructureandfunctionimpairmentwillhaveapoor prognosis．Wemetanexceptionalcaseandmadeareport，thendiscussedsomeviewpointsaboutprognosisofWD patients．Case report：A WDpatientpresentingwithseverecodexstructureandcerebralfunctionimpairmentwasfollowedupfor5years，including histherapeuticregiment-thecombinedtreatmentoftraditionalChinesemedicineandwesternmedicine，clinicalmanifestation，the 24．hrurinecopperoutputandbrainMRI．Byeffectivecopper—excludingtherapy，hisclinicalmanifestationwentonworse1 yearafter diagnosis,andthenwasimprovedinthefollowingyears．Thepatient’ssymptomsalmostcompleterecover3yearsafterwrad．During5 ycars．the24．hrurinecopperexcretedistapered．butitwasstillhigherthannorma1．ThecerebralMR imageofthepattentwasgetting worseat1“year．thenbegantorecover，andimprovedmarkedly5yearsafter．Conclusion：ForWDpatients，treatedwiththetraditional Chinesemedicineandwesternmedicine，eventherapystartinseriousconditionsandinlateadolescent，clinicalmanifestationmayget strikingimprovement． Keywords：W ilson’sDisease(WD)，treatingeffect．cranialMR1 1．Introduction pathogenesiscondition，thepharmacotherapyishardto amelioratethesymptoms[2】．Thereisalsoareportthat wD is a rare familiaIinherited disorder as an the necrosis or cystic change in the brain are autosomalrecessive trait
