[Abstract] To review recent progress for applying needle insertion or acupuncture on experimental diabetes mellitus DM and insulin resistance IR in type 2 diabetes mellitus T2DM and the other insulin resistance associated diseases IRAD in years past. Current research showed that experimental DM and its chronic complications for example diabetic vascular pathological change, nervous lesion and retinopathy and IR in IRAD animal models including T2DM, obesity, spontaneous hypertension and so on were cured by needle insertion or acupuncture the therapeutic effect and mechanism have been investigated.
