She received a B.A. in Philosophy at Cornell University in 1980, a M.S. in Forest Science at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Sciences in 1983, and a PhD. in Plant Science in 1988 at the University of Maine. Her areas of expertise include biogeochemistry, climate change impacts, and advanced environmental sensor systems. Dr. Rustad has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, has led several international climate change research coordination networks, and is the lead author of a recent publication on climate change impacts: “Changing Climate, Changing Forests: A Synthesis of Climate Change Impacts of Forests of the Northeastern United States and Eastern Canada.” Her current interests include research on extreme climatic events and their impacts on north temperate forest ecosystems, implementation of cyber technology in forests across the nort
