Abstract: Concrete is treated as a two-phase composite consisting of micro-cracks and intact matrix. The
intact matrix is assumed to be elastic, homogeneous and isotropic. The micro-cracks are penny-shape. On
the Mori-Tanaka’s concept of average stress in the matrix and Eshelby’s equivalent inclusion theory, the
compliance tensor of concrete is formulated. One-dimensional dynamic constitutive model of concrete is
established. At the same time, the damage evolution equation of micro-crack is found out. The model
predictions agree well with experimental results. So the model can be used to simulate the dynamic
mechanical behaviors of concrete.
Keyword: concrete; micromechanics; impact loading; dynamic constitutive model
