English Learning Strategies on Vocabulary and Reading of Junior High School Students
Abstract: This article reports on research into the English learning strategies on vocabulary and reading used by junior high school students. The research data use questionnaire items, class observations and interviews with a selected group of students, teachers and parents. The purpose of doing this research project is to find out the use of English learning strategies by Junior High School students, effects of learning strategies on English study.

Introduction
Brief Introduction of Language Learning Strategies
Learning strategies are skills used by students to improve their learning. These strategies are important for language learning because they are tools to help students become more active in language learning. Appropriate language learning strategies result in improved proficiency and self-confidence.
Learning strategies have been used for thousands of years, although they have been formally discovered and named recently. Throughout the history, the best language learners have used strategies, ranging from naturalistic language practice techniques to analytic strategies.
Reasons Why We Want to Do the Study and What We Want to Achieve
Large amounts of studies have pointed out that appropriate strategies can result in improved proficiency and self-confidence. In order to improve the theory, we decided to confirm the accuracy of this theory.
One of our group members is an intern teacher of XX Middle School. According to his personal experience and class observation, we find that Junior High students begin to use some learning strategies. Different students have their own learning strategies. As Junior High students, English learning is an important part in their study life. So we choose “English Learning Strategies on Vocabulary and Reading of Junior High School Students” as our research topic.
