Simulation samples of a color database of painted Dunhuang art paintings were estab- lished according to investigation of pigment, glue, and production processes and techniques. Some optimal sam- ples were selected during digital color control tests to the color chart. The test results show that the self-made color chart is clearly superior to the standard color chart used in color control of Dunhuang art paintings and digital protection.
