Learn about the development of English and the differences between British English and American English. 3. Learn to write an e-mail. Review Review the grammar in this topic by translating some sentences. For example: (1)明天我将离开北京去上海。 I’m leaving Beijing for Shanghai tomorrow. (2)我想知道谁将到机场接我。 I want to know who is meeting me at the airport. Presentation Talk about the differences in English among different English-speaking countries and lead in 1. T: We have know some differences in English among different English-speaking countries. Could you tell us some, class? S1: Pronunciation, like[dentrIst](dentist) in British English while[dεntIst]in American English. S2: Some expressions. You fill in a form in British, but fill out a form in the U.S.A. T: Yes. They are mainly different in pronunciation, spelling and expressions. Now let’s finish 1. Consolidation Listen to the tape, and finish 2a and 2b, then check the answers. Practice 1.
