In the 112th Congress, elected in 2010, the Republican Party holds a majority of seats in the House of Representatives众议院, and a minority of seats in the Senate参议院. The party holds the majority of governorships, as well as the majority of state legislatures. The Democratic Party: founded: 1828 (modern), 1792 (historical) The party‘s socially liberal and progressive platform党纲 is largely considered center-left in the U.S. political spectrum. The party has the lengthiest record of continuous operation in the United States, and is one of the oldest political parties in the world. Barack Obama is the 15th Democrat to hold the office of President of the United States.
