Clear your mind about the precise objectives of your speech. Who am I? Speak in the right tune as the role you are playing. To whom?The audience: age, composition, knowledge background and their likely reaction to the topic Where/when The room:size, audiovisual aids available,acoustic , flexibility, etc . The time: A shorter presentation or a longer one? How to begin: This is a critical part of any speech as it conditions much of the attitude people will have during the whole performance  Making preparations for oral presentation (p129-131) Beginning Block: Three elements make up a good beginning block for your talk—an expression of courtesy to your listeners, introduction of the central idea of your talk, and first mention of the main appeal of the idea to your audience. Middle Block: Having begun your talk well, turn next in the middle block to make the strongest case you can for your central idea in the time open to you. End Block: Usually you give an appropriate summary or enumerate the main points. In almost all cases, you won’t want to introduce any new facts or appeals in your ending.
