In this review recent developments in the area of BiOX photocatalysis research in terms of new materials preparationhave been summarized from a structural perspective. Bismuth oxyhalides structural design is directly related to its specific surface areaabsorption capacityadsorption and charge carrier mobilityand thus affects its performance and function. Alsomodification methodssuch as doping loading and construct heterojunctionwhich further improve the photocatalytic properties of bismuth oxyhalide are discussed. The immobilization of BiOX photocatalysts is briefly described. The development of photocatalysts shall be aimed to achieve the regulation of preparation-structure- properties of the catalystthrough deep studie
