Knowing the different views on marriage between Chinese and Western cultures is important for people to improve their ability to communicate in cross-cultural environment. This paper is to make a comparative study on views on marriage in Pride and Prejudice and A Dream of Red Mansions and analyze the reasons of the differences. The paper is going to stimulate people’s cultural awareness, boost people’s sense of responsibility, and attract more attention to marriage culture. It will make people do some self-reflection and learn the good things and get rid of dad ones from the traditional and modern marriage culture, and ultimately help to improve our marriage culture to some degree. 2.HISTORICAL REVIEW OF THE RESEARCH There are many researches about Pride and Prejudice and A Dream of Red Mansions both at home and abroad. 2.1 International study There are some researches about irony in Pride and Prejudice at abroad.
