Usually, people tend to use literature in a narrower sense of the word. We tend to exclude practical writings from the sphere of literature. Thus, to be literature, aesthetic value is acquired.Why Do We Read Literature?1. For entertainment- stories (Homer, Decameron, 《聊斋志异》,《搜神记》2. For education (encouragement)-(pedagogical fables) 3. For culture, history - mirror of reality (travelogues, history, biography, etc.)4. For truth (文以载道)5. For aesthetic value(transcendence, Nietzsche)6.
