AbstractAs a flagship figure in the history of western metaphysics ， since Descartes declared that I think therefore I am，cogito or self- consciousness has become themost which can depict the particularity of western philosophy and western thinking of trademark problem.This study attempts to in the context of western civilization and the western philosophy and its impact on cartesian cogito philosophy research. The content will be divided into two parts, in part one , this research to comb cogito philosophicalapproach through the following three steps ： at first, in theoretical and practicalbackground, we will trace the origin of cogito study, it is the outcome of an inexhaustible exploration for knowledge certainty which is reached by the method ofby common doubt; second ，we will be in Descartes thought to clarify the content andposition of cogito, I think as the first principle of philosophy that Descartes established rational position. To point out, through the method of doubt to establish mythought process, that rules out knowledge content by means of negativity，eventuallylefts the abstract process of general understanding of the subject ，That is established the subjectivity of the process. So the next question for Descartes is how to apply for the cartesian cogito to rebuild all the negative content. This is the third aspect ofcogito philosophy which is I think and metaphysics.
