The Contractor has a Key Role to play to add value to the Client’s Supply Chain: A Major Reason for Outsourcing Functions Identify Opportunities Significant and Continuing Effort Required by Contractor Advise Client and Suppliers of Opportunities The Contractor is in the key position to be able to add value to the Client’s supply chain because the Contractor probably has contacts with more links in the chain (both up and down the chain) than any other section of the supply chain. As the Contractor is involved in its core business (logistics) it should be the one who act as the catalyst in initiating the changes that will add value to the Client’s supply chain. This is one of the most important reasons for a Client to out-source part of their business to a Contractor. Consequently, each Contractor needs to make a significant and continuing effort to review the Client’s supply chain and identify opportunities to add value to the Contractor’s role. 7.
