But my mom does it. She says that yoga helps her keep slim. She feels better about herself after doing it. Unlike aerobic exercises, yoga is slow and graceful. That’s why the women of my mom’s age enjoy it. Some books on yoga say that yoga helps you achieve inner calm with its emphasis on the union of mind and body. Yoga is really magical. —— Yoga dates back more than 5,000 years. In old times, the desire for personal freedom, health and long life gave birth to （产生） this system of physical（身体的）and mental（精神的）exercise. The word yoga means “to join together”, and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious（和谐的）experience. The whole system of yoga is built on three main structures（构造）: exercise, breathing, and meditation（冥想）. Regular practice of yoga produces a clear, bright mind and a strong, capable body.
