(a) write the words “in”, “on” and “under” on the board. (b)bring a box into the classroom or draw one on the board. Now put or draw a pen on top of the box. Say,“The pen is on the box.”have the students repeat the sentence .Follow the same procedure for “in”and “under”. (c) Tell all the students to put a pencil and a book on their desk. Say that you are going to tell them where to place the pencil. Examples: T: The pencil is on the book . Ss: (put the pencil on the book.) T: The pencil is under the book.
