Affective Factors in English Teaching and Learning 李妙妙 平度市万家镇万家小学 摘要:情感缺失问题是目前英语教学中亟需解决的问题。英语教学中不仅要发展学生的语言知识及综合运用语言的能力,而且必须关注学生的情感,全面改进英语教学,实施情感教育。本文主要基于目前英语教学中存在的问题及情感在英语教学中的重要性,提出了在英语教学中实施情感教育的策略方法。情感在英语教学中发挥着举足轻重的作用。英语教学应以情感教育为突破口,并以此拉动中学英语教学。 关键词:情感,情感因素,英语教学,英语学习 Abstract: English teaching in middle school is lack of affective education. This problem needs to be solved in an urgent way. Teachers should not only develop students’ language knowledge and their abilities of language use, but also pay more attention to students’ affect in teaching, improve English teaching and implement affective education. Based on the current problems and the significance of affect in English teaching and learning, the paper suggests several pieces of advice that is feasible and easy to follow. Affect plays an important role in English teaching and learning. English teaching should go on with affective education so as to improve teaching efficiency. Key Words: affect, affective factors, English teaching, English learning Affective Factors in English Teaching and Learning Introduction In the early 1960s, systematical affect theory came into being, providing theoretic basis for the development of education theory. In the 1970s, language trainers and experts began to do some research on how to permeate affective factors in language teaching. Some teaching approaches appeared, such as Suggestopedia, Silent way, Community Language Learning and so on. They all took affective factors into account. Since the 1970s, humanistic language-teaching theory began to focus its attention on affect and personality in language teaching. In Krashen’s Affective-Filter Hypothesis, he states that affective factors play a very important role in second language acquisition. Piaget emphasized that the process of cognitive construction is the process of affective construction in his theory of affective development. Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of human needs provides a theory to apply affect in English classr
