Mineral resources Geographic location Because it located in the south of dongting lake,So it was named “Hunan”. And due to the largest river -----xiangjiang river flow through all field ,thus we called it as the xiang“. The north of Hunan is Yangtze river, and the hubei provice separates the river ; The south of Hunan are guangdong and guangxi provices; It close to the open coastal belts ,such as Hong Kong and Macao regions;The jiangxi provice is the north of Hunan provice.The west of Hunan are chongqing and guizhou provices, and the geographical position is superior. Climate It belongs to the subtropical moist monsoon climate. The climate is mild, and have abundant precipitations.The four seasons was distincted very clearly. There are heavy rain in the spring, and very cold and short in the winter. The summer is hot and humid. The January temperatures average 3 to 8°C while July temperatures average around 27 to 30°C. Average annual precipitation is 1200 to 1700 mm.  Rivers and lakes Hunan provice have a lot of rivers and lakes. The Xiangjiang, the Zijiang, the Yuanjiang and the Lishui Rivers converge on the Yangtze River at Lake Dongting (Dongting Hu, 洞庭湖) in the north of Hunan. The whole basin area is 25 square kilometers, a basin of about 92% in the province. Biological resources The Biological resources in hunan province is very rich. There are a world of rare surviving five plants living fossil--YinSha, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Glyptostrobus, ginkgo and GongTong. There are 18 kinds of Level 1 protect animals .such as leopard, gold, south China tiger cat, crane, white-flag dolphin and so forth. Mineral resources The type of Hunan mineral resources is various, It is the famous on the home of non-ferrous metals and non-metallic town”. The general history and culture about Hunan .
