Presentation of Teaching Plans Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today I feel really honored to introduce my teaching plan to you. My topic is “Slavery Gave Me Nothing to Lose”. Zora Neal Hurston is the writer of this article, an African-American writer. Before dealing with any specific text, it is crucial for the teachers to be well aware of the teaching objects, materials, goals and arrangements. Our course is College English, which is a compulsory basic course for the lower-grade non-English majors. It aims to cultivate a comprehensive ability and an individualized study pattern. In the two-year study the students are trained to consolidate what they have learned in middle school and enhance their basic skills. Meanwhile different approaches, for instance, oral presentation, discussion, and questioning, are employed to inspire their awareness of analyzing problems through inducing and deducing. While reading the text, it is far from enough for students to merely focus on the verbal level. Teachers and students are supposed to work together to discover the connotations underneath. Thus they may develop their consciousness of thinking about life and society. This might be helpful for the students to form a sense of social responsibility. Bearing the goal of the course in mind, let’s get down to the specific teaching content: Teaching material: New Horizon College English is a series of multi-dimensional and comprehensive teaching course. It provides us with abundant teaching resources both digital and non-digital, complete with CD ROMs, online courses, test papers and course wares. It focuses on information, interest, sense of the times and cultural connotations, helping to broaden students’ horizons, develop their human qualities and cultural awareness.
