He is a chief representative of the Lost Generation, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in1954. As a great language master, he had contributed a great deal to the American literature. His works have unique characteristics both in language style and theme. Hemingways distinctive language style set him apart from other authors of his time, which is known as the Iceberg Theory today. The Iceberg Theory characterized by economy and understatement had an enormous influence on 20th-century fiction; He also influenced many writers with his language style of using powerful, precise words.
