1b This activity provides guided oral practice using the target language.
Read the instructions. Explain that positive words are words that you can use to say good things about people.
Ask students to say only good things about people as they talk with their partners.
Point out the sample sentence. Ask a student to read it to the class.
As the pairs work together, move around the room and listen to their sentences. Offer help as needed.
Ask several students to say their sentences to the class.
2a This activity provides listening practice using the target language.
Read the instructions. Ask students what a talent show is and ask the students to tell what people do at a talent show. (Its a show in which students perform for each other. One student might play the piano and another might do a dance.)
Point to the five pictures. Ask different students to say what the people are doing in each picture. (Picture 1 =playing the guitar standing on her head; Picture 2 = playing in a band; Picture 3 = juggling; Picture 4 = singing with his dog; Picture 3 = playing the piano)
Point to the list of five names. Ask a student to read the names to the class.
Play the recording the first time. Students only listen.
Play the recording the second time. This time ask students to listen and write the correct name under each picture.
Check the answers.
2b This activity provides listening and writing Practice using the target language.
Read the instructions. Point to the chart and ask a student to read the first line of the chart containing the sample answer point out the other four spaces for students to write in.
