First, It will open a broad development space for the central and eastern regions .Besides, it is critical to china’s overall economic growth. what’s more, it is the only effective way to achieve a balance of economic development between the east and the west. There are various reasons why the gaps between the west and the east have been widened since china’ reform. The chief reason ,I think ,is that the west’s unique unfavorable geographic positions greatly limit its economic development. And most of the 30 million people who live there still have subsistence problems. On the other hand, the opening up policies enables the east to attract more foreign capital and make a fantastic spur in its development. Thus leaving the vast west further behind The Western region development is a long term systematic project. It calls for tremendous efforts of several generations.
