Abstract The stations are equipped with water cooled thyristor valves
of indoor design. The valves of a 12-pulse converter are

1. Introduction
Today we are experiencing an increased interest in HVDC
transmissions in many parts of the world, in particular in
Asia and in Europe. The reasons for this are primarily the
need to transport large blocks of power from remote
generation to rapidly growing load Centres in Asia and the
economic benefits by interconnecting different power grids
in Europe.
