Your motivation to study Computational biology? (Why do you choose YSBL?) A：呃。Well, there are many reasons: first, both my parents are working in medicine companies. When I was a child, I was very interested in these equipments in my mom’s laboratory. And in college, I choose biomedical engineering. Though it’s different from biology, their purpose is to improve the human health. As you know, China has too many people. It’s really a big problem for Chinese people to see a doctor or to buy medicines. Furthermore, Both computational biology and biomedical engineering are interdisciplinary fields. They have many intersections. I am confident with myself to quickly engage in this profession. Your reasons for selecting York? A: When I was a freshman, I wanted to go aboard to continue my postgraduate study. After 4 years learning, I think I still have much room for improvement. If you want to break the thinking stereotype, the best way is to change the environment. York is one of the best Universities in the world. It’s also very famous in China. Advanced technology in York is another reason. Also the city of York is very attractive. Your academic background, and particularly in your biology Science knowledge and programming experience, and any projects undertaken? (projects, Research experience?) A: In my college, students have three directions to choose: electronics, medical imaging and bioinformatics. Unfortunately, I didn’t choose bioinformatics and I chose imaging. But that doesn’t mean that they’re totally independent. My current project is imaging processing for pathology, actually cytology. In this project, I use imaging processing ways to solve pathological problems. Our final target is to write a program helping the doctors to diagnose pleural effusion patients.
