Paragraph hooks (段落钩) Paragraph hooks is another cohesion technique which create coherence between paragraphs. Instead of linking one sentence to the next, paragraph hooks link one paragraph to the next. Paragraph hooks are based on repetition of keywords between paragraphs and these help students to guide their audience: the writer repeats (or use a synonym for) one or more keywords or phrases in one paragraph in the first sentence of the following paragraph. A combination of transitions and paragraph hooks is often the most effective means of linking paragraphs Read the following paragraph.
