* TFP is structured by a treatment contract which --Sets up guidelines to ensure the patient’s safety. ---Contracting is achieved through a process of dialogue where threats to the treatment for the particular patient are identified and elaborated. --The most obvious ones are suicidal behaviors, but lying or censoring information, abusing drugs, intruding into therapists life are also major threats. --Contract provides a safe place where the dynamics of the patient’s internal world may unfold. --Outlines patients and therapist responsibilities TFP involves two sessions per week and treatment duration is one year minimum.
