In this situation, knowing the cultures of the different countries seemed to be very important. This thesis will discuss the Comparative analysis of taboo culture in Chinese and Western. There are four advantages to search the theme. * First of all, It can enrich peoples knowledge and improve their self-cultivation. Second, An appropriate attitude towards cultural taboo is conducive to the success in intercultural communication. Third, it is benefit to learn from otherss strong points to offset ones weakness, and promote ones own motherland culture. Last, teachers take some appropriate strategy to improve the foreign language learners understanding of taboo language using principles of the target language, which is good for the teaching of chinese or other language as a foreign language. * Status Quo/Background to the Problem There have been a lot of ancient and present studies on taboo at home and abroad. In the18th century, British navigator James Cook first discovered taboo custom in the tonga islands residents and introduced the word in English. Sigmund Freud in the Totem and taboo wrote that taboo Gradually developed into a kind of the power that has its own this basic, independent of faith demons... * In China, due to the deep-rooted feudal thought, researching on the phenomenon of language taboos in our country is later than in the west.
