Past and Present 教学目标 To talk about the changes in one’s life. Make Ss aware of the difference between facts and opinions. 重点 1. To talk about the changes in one’s life. 2. To tell what is a fact and what is opinion. 难点 1. To talk about the changes in one’s life. 2. To tell what is a fact and what is opinion. 教法及教具 A recorder and some paper with sentences. 教 学 过 程 教 学 内 容 个案调整 教师主导活动 学生主体活动 Step 1 Revision Show some questions and ask two or three students to talk about changes in Starlight Town. ① In Starlight Town, what did people have in the past? ② Was there any wildlife? ③ How did people get there? ④ Where did people live? ⑤ What changes have taken place in this town? Step 2 Presentation 1. Present the subject of the conversation and asks students to talk about changes in their own lives in brief and compare the past with the present. 2. Explain the context of Millie and Sandy’s conversation about changes in growing up and encourage Ss to talk about these changes . Step 3 Speak up 1. Help Ss understand the meaning of conversation. 2. Ask Ss to listen to the tape and answer the following questions : ①Where has Becky just returned from? ②When did Millie last see Becky? ③How does Millie keep in touch with Becky? ④What makes communication much easier? 3. Ask Ss to read the conversation after the tape and then practise reading it in pairs. 4. Ask a few pairs of students to role-play the conversation. 5. Lead Ss to work in pairs and talk about the changes in their lives using Millie and Sandy’s conversation as a model. 6. Give Ss a few minutes to practise their own conversations and then ask two or three pairs to present their conversations to the class. 7. Have Ss remember some useful expressions: ①return “ 回来,返回 ” return home 回家 return to school 回到学校 ②last 副词 “最近,上一次” ③keep in touch = stay in touch 保持联系 Step 4 Facts and opinions T: We often use facts and opinions when we write.
