J nl ng Inst tute of T echnolog y, Nanj ng 211169 , Ch na) Abstract: In order to detect the crack of cable s PE protect ve layer surf ace on cablestayed br dge, an algor thm des g n w as proposed n th s paper. F rstly, gray pr ocess ng and f lter ng process ng w ere used n the phase of mag e prepro cess ng. Secondly, the cont nuous boundary of cable contour w as obta ned by us ng edge detect on , boundary track ng and Hough transfo rm . Subsequently , the stay cable surf ace mage w thout background w as del vered from the or g nal g ray mage and the mask t hat w as based on the cont nuous boundary of cable s contour . In the last stage, the cable s PE protect ve lay er surf ace crack mag e w as obta ned by u s ng a crack detect on algor thm based on mages spat al d ff er ence. T h s algor thm des gn w as appl ed to detect the cr ack of cable surf ace on cablestayed br dge. T he result sho w s t he algor t hm can successfully ex tract the cr ack mage of cables PE protect ve layer from the mages that captured by t he cl mb ng robot .
