Notes on Useful Terms 1. shipping instructions 装船须知 Before shipment, the importer generally sends his shipping requirements to the exporter, informing him in writing of the packing and shipping marks, mode of transportation, etc., known as the shipping instructions. shipping advice 装船通知 The exporter usually sends by fax a notice to the importer immediately after the goods are loaded on board the ship, advising him of the shipment, especially under FOB or CFR terms so that the importer can effect insurance on the shipment upon receipt of the notice, known as the shipping advice. Notes on Useful Terms It generally includes: ? Contract and / or L/C numbers; ? the name of commodity; ? number of packages; ? total quantity shipped; ? gross weight and net weight; ? name of the vessel; ? the estimated time of departure (ETD) and the estimated time of arrival (ETA); ? total value of the shipment; ? the port of shipment and the port of destination; ? the shipping documents specified in the contract. Notes on Useful Terms 2. forwarding 发送 forward v. 寄送,运送 We have forwarded the samples by air.
